Dr Mike Aitken
Dr Aitken truly loves caring for pregnant couples and helping them become families.
Dr Aitken is a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist caring for women at St John of God Hospital, Subiaco. Dr Aitken graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1984 and worked in Sports Medicine, then country General Practice before specialising in Obstetrics & Gynaecology mainly at King Edward Memorial Hospital.
He has a strong interest in the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHAD), particularly how a couple’s health at conception and during pregnancy impact on the child’s future well being, and also whether IVF and other fertility treatments cause any changes.
With a strong interest and involvement in fertility treatment, Dr Aitken is a Director and Cofounder of Fertility Specialists of Western Australia, based at Bethesda Hospital in Claremont. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) and is also past President of The National Association of Specialists Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (NASOG), is also a member of the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA).
Outside of work he enjoys time with his wife and grown family of four children, and is a keen bike rider, surfer, yoga exponent and lover of nature.
